Senate Select Committee Submission on Australia as a Technology and Financial Centre

Blockchain Australia has provided its submission to the Select Committee on Australia as a Technology and Financial Centre.

The submission reflects a balanced, staged approach to the development of a fit for purpose regulatory framework. One that supports the Australian digital assets sector by –

– Building on and strengthening consumer protections.
– Facilitating consultative cooperation between industry and government
– Providing a safe harbour to create short term certainty for businesses
– Proposing a best practice financial advice approach modelled on the existing AFSL regime

Blockchain Australia consulted widely with membership and non-membership segments to reflect responses from across the community.

We thank Chloe White and the team at Genesis Block for their assistance in preparing this submission. We also thank working group members from BTC Markets,Independent ReserveSwyftxLuno, and Caleb and Brown for their contributions.

We look forward to working with Government and Regulators across the country in order to realise the outcomes we believe will place Australia at the forefront of a global opportunity.
