Dr Philippa Ryan

Dr Pip Ryan is a Lecturer and Barrister at the Faculty of Law, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She holds a PhD (Law), a Master of Education, and BA from the University of Sydney, and LLB (Hons) from UTS, Pip is a member of the NSW Bar Association. Previously, she was Teaching Fellow in Law at The Women’s College (University of Sydney), Tutor in law at UTS Faculty of Law, and a Casual Lecturer in law at University of Sydney Law School.

Dr Ryan is a founding member of the UTS Blockchain Creative Cluster. At UTS Law, she coordinates and teaches Disruptive Technologies and the Law. Her PhD formulated a new classification for the liability of third parties to a breach of trust and her current research explores trust protocols enabled by blockchain technology. Pip is a member of the Standards Australia Technical Committee IT-041(Blockchain), where she chairs the smart contracts working group. Her other memberships include the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA); the Coalition of Automated Legal Applications (COALA); and Women in Payments.
